The United Grand Lodge of England (UGLE) is the home of Freemasonry. UGLE governs and administers Freemasonry in England, Wales, the Channel Islands, the Isle of Man and several Districts overseas, including the DGL of Madras. UGLE is the governing body for a membership organisation with over 170,000 members meeting in more than 7,000 Lodges worldwide.
The headquarters of UGLE is at Freemasons’ Hall, a stunning Grade II listed Art Deco building that proudly stands on Great Queen Street in Covent Garden, London. The Hall has been used to hold meetings for Freemasons since 1775. The present building, the third Masonic Hall on the site, was constructed between 1927 and 1933 as a memorial to those who died in the First World War and was for many years known as the Masonic Peace Memorial.
